Oliver P. “Butch” Cutlip, age 85, went to his eternal home with his Lord and Savior early in the morning on January 5, 2025, after a courageous fight with an extended illness. He resided at the Bennington Glen long-term care facility in Marengo, Ohio at the time of his death with his loving wife, Phyllis J. Heiss-Cutlip, who survives. The couple were married on October 2, 1999 and resided in Ross County, Ohio until illnesses made it necessary for them both to move closer to family in Morrow County, Ohio. Butch was born on June 7, 1939 in Wakefield, Ohio to the late Chester “Ted” and Carrie L. Neal-Cutlip.
Butch grew up in the Wakefield, Ohio area where he attended and graduated from Scioto Valley, Piketon High School in 1957. He was drafted into the Army and proudly served during the Vietnam era. Butch was employed by several different companies over the years after the Army but found his time with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections-Ross Correctional Institution in Chillicothe, Ohio as a Corrections Officer, to be the most rewarding. He retired from that agency in 2002. The Ross Correctional Institution is where Butch met his wife who was employed as a Caseworker.
