Overdose Call Leads to Drug Trafficking Arrest

Monday got off to a very bad start for one Portsmouth man. Just before 7 am, PPD Officers and PFD Medics responded to a report of an overdosed man on Charles Street. 

A search warrant was requested after police notified detectives of their concerns.

Detectives with the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force discovered 53 grams of suspected fentanyl, 500 grams of suspected marijuana, and items related to drug trafficking after obtaining a search warrant.  Baggies and digital scales were also discovered. The report made no mention of weapons or cash.

Jay Costelli of Portsmouth, Ohio, was arrested. Costelli was charged with first-degree felonies for Drug Trafficking and Possession of Drugs. An arraignment was held in Portsmouth Municipal Court on August 30th.

Costelli currently sits in the Scioto County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
