Two Overdose Calls in 16 Hours
🔹 1:00 AM – Valley Street
A caller frantically reported that a man had overdosed and wasn’t breathing. But when EMS and police arrived, the man had already left the scene, leaving responders without a patient to help.
🔹 5:00 PM – Summit Street
A second call came in reporting an unresponsive woman suffering from a suspected overdose. This time, EMS and police found her alive, but she refused medical attention and declined to speak with the drug crisis response team.
What to Do If You Suspect an Overdose
If you see someone overdosing, acting fast can save their life:
✔ Call 911 Immediately – Give the exact location and describe the person’s condition.
✔ Check for Signs of Overdose – Look for:
- Slow or no breathing
- Blue lips or fingertips
- Gurgling or snoring sounds
- Unresponsiveness
✔ Administer Narcan (Naloxone) – This lifesaving medication can reverse an opioid overdose. If you have it:
- Spray one dose in the person’s nose
- Perform rescue breathing if necessary
- Stay with them until help arrives
