Officers responded to the parking lot of Bob Evans after a caller reported that a man was passed out in a vehicle in the parking lot. They said they’d attempted to wake him without success.
When the deputy arrived on the scene, they found the man slumped over the steering wheel. They were unable to wake the man and spotted a black balloon lying next to the gear shift along with some straws.
Since the window was down, the deputy was able to open the door and pull the man out of the car. The officer prepared to administer Narcan, but the man woke up before he could.
The man was sweating profusely but denied having used any drugs. He said he only had marijuana in the car.
The man gave deputies permission to search the car, and they confiscated a balloon with a crystal substance inside and some gray powder.
The overdose victim admitted it contained heroin and meth. He told officers he’d been clean for three years but had just started using drugs again. Officers also learned there was an open warrant for the man’s arrest.
Medics cleared the man, and officers transported him to the Lawrence County Jail.
