Overdose Reported in Restaurant Bathroom

Portsmouth is making an effort to revive the Chillicothe Street corridor to bring in restaurants and other tourist attractions, but the city is still facing a drug addiction and homeless crisis.

Just after 6 pm, officers and medics responded to Belini Cucina in the 600 block of Gallia for a report that someone had overdosed in the bathroom. Medics from the Portsmouth Fire Department treated and released the victim.

Just down the street in front of Frank & Steins Lounge, a caller said a homeless person was dancing in the street and had pulled down their pants and squatted like they were going to use the bathroom.

However, that person was gone by the time officers arrived.

Officers were called to 17th Street around 9:30 pm for a report of someone overdosing in a yard and turning purple. Residents administered Narcan, and the victim took off before officers and EMS arrived on the scene.

Not long after, EMS responded to the Royal Inn for a report of an overdose. Medics transported the victim to the hospital for treatment.
