A man who nearly died from an overdose was offered two distinct choices after he was revived – either seek treatment or face the possibility of jail.

The man overdosed in the early hours of Tuesday morning, and Lawrence County Deputies and EMS responded to the scene.

EMS learned the man had turned blue, and his girlfriend had administered two nasal doses of Narcan to revive him. He admitted that he’d snorted Oxy.

Officers noted that the man was sitting up and alert when they arrived, and an officer presented him with the option to either seek treatment within the week or the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office would charge him with possession.

The man refused to go to the hospital.
