Owen Smith, Jr., 90, of Minford, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025 at SOMC ER. He was born February 15, 1935 in New Boston, a son of the late Owen and Nola Virginia (Flannery) Smith. He was a 1953 Minford High School graduate, a former employee of Empire Detroit Steel and Western & Southern Insurance Company. Owen was a lifelong Minford resident and enjoyed gardening, flea marketing, Minford Basketball and attending Grace Fellowship Church.
He is survived by one son, Randy Smith of Minford; two daughters, Andrea Gaye (Dana) Messer, Pamela Smith (Kevin Taylor) both of Minford; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; two brothers, Jonas (MaryAnn) Smith, John (Jane) Smith; two sisters, Eloise (Carl) McClurg, Louvena (Phil) Swords; his former wife, Barbara Baldridge, and one sister-in-law, Cindy Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Cora Agnes (Howard) Smith whom he married September 18, 1953; two sons, Ron Smith, Brian Scott Smith, five brothers, Clarence (Nellie) Smith, Doug (Pansy) Smith, Everett “Dick” (Norma) Smith, Arnold (Janette) Smith, and David Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted at Noon Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Jason Messer officiating. Burial will be at Smith-Claxon Cemetery in Kentucky.
