Just after 11 a.m., a caller contacted PPD to report finding a machete near Highland Head Start while on a nature walk with their children. Officers impounded the weapon.
At 11:45 a.m., an upset parent asked officers if there was some kind of “Scared Straight” program to get her child on the right path. After she described the child’s behavior, officers suggested filing an unruly charge.
Just after noon, officers responded to the Royal Inn after a man tried to give them his girlfriend’s car. He said he’d borrowed it in Tennessee last week and was supposed to have it back that day or the woman said she’d report it stolen.
He said the vehicle was acting up and he couldn’t get it fixed to drive back to her. Police contacted the owner, and she didn’t want it impounded or towed, she just wanted it back. Officers explained that the two parties would have to work out a solution amongst themselves.
At 2 p.m., a caller reported finding a loaded 9mm handgun lying in the grass by the sign for the Woodbine apartments on Kendall Avenue. Officers impounded the weapon.
