Parents Forget Kids at School, CPS Takes Custody

Just before 6 pm, officers responded to West Portsmouth Middle school after parents failed to pick up 2 kids after school. School personnel were unable to contact the parents. 

CPS was on the scene and requested a deputy to accompany them to the mother’s West Portsmouth home. 

The mom was okay, but CPS took custody of the children due to drug abuse by a parent.

County personnel responded to several incidents relating to drug use and overdoses. 

EMS personnel responded to a possible overdose on Oakwood Avenue just after 2:30 am. The person was revived with Narcan.

A worried friend asked officers to check on a woman at the Red Roof Inn. She reported her friend had recently relapsed, and she feared she had overdosed. Deputies said the woman appeared to be okay. 

A Wheelersburg caller told deputies someone dropped a high individual off and his house. Now that person was inside the home with a knife threatening to kill himself and someone else. A deputy gave the troubled person a ride to another location. 

Just after 5 pm, deputies responded to the Dollar General on US 23 for a report of a man passed out in a car. He left the scene before officers arrived. 

A social worker contacted deputies to report a client was threatening self-harm and had a plan to overdose. Deputies responded to the client’s home, and they agreed to allow an ambulance to transport them to the hospital.
