An overnight report of suspicious activity on 8th Street resulted in the arrest of a man out on parole for manufacturing illegal drugs.
At 1:30 am, a witness reported a group of people going in and out of a building on 8th Street. The caller worried that the men might be breaking into the vacant house
When officers arrived on the scene five minutes later, they found three men on the scene and detained them. Officers noted that the house was vacant and in no condition for anyone to live in. The men claimed they had permission from the owner to live in the sheds on the property as long as they cleaned the property up.
Officers told them they needed to obtain written permission from the landlord, also with a working phone number where officers could contact the landlord to confirm the men are allowed on the property.
Police discovered one of the men, Robert Sperry, had an open warrant for parole violation and an assault charge. Sperry is currently on parole for charges of illegally manufacturing drugs.
Sperry was arrested twice back in March, once for criminal damaging and again for parole violation. Police booked Sperry into the Scioto County Jail. He was released the same day per the court.
