Parolee Arrested for 73rd Time

Officers took a troubled man into custody for the 73rd time after an incident at 5th and Lincoln Streets on Tuesday night.

Just after 10 pm, witnesses reported a man in a dark hoodie acting as if he were on drugs. When police arrived on the scene, they took Christopher Lampkin into custody for 73rd time and charged him with disorderly conduct.

Lampkin has a lengthy arrest record and is currently on parole for convictions for drug possession and theft.

The state released him on parole back in January of 2020 and he’s been arrested 12 times since being put under state supervision.

Previous arrests include multiple charges of disorderly conduct, probation and parole violation, drug charges, failure to appear, criminal trespass, assault, theft, and criminal damaging.

Lampkin was released on a $150 bond.

Note from the Publisher: No official or active campaign has yet been launched to entice an inpatient mental health facility to invest in our region. The jail isn’t a place where the mentally ill can pass the time. It is actually the state’s goal to reduce the number of people in jail. Two times, SCDN has inquired with County Commissioners in public meetings. Neither they nor the Economic Development team appears to be in a hurry to pursue these service providers for our citizens.
