Parolee Busted for 26th Time After Fleeing Scene of Accident

Early Friday morning, PPD arrested a parolee after he fled the scene of a crash in the 1500 block of 4th Street. Police say the accident happened at 7:45 am.

The crash damaged a utility pole at 4th and Offnere, and AEP responded to the scene to take care of the damages.

Officers caught up with the driver and discovered an open warrant for his arrest for parole violation and contempt of court.

They arrested William Elliot Hurt and booked him into the Scioto County Jail. This was his 26th arrest. The state released Hurt on parole in 2021, and he’s been arrested for parole violation three times since then.

Hurt has previous arrests for drug possession, driving without a license, and driving under the influence.

Under the Influence on Brame Road

Just before 6 am, Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies answered a call about a man sitting on the curve of Brame Road. Motorists were afraid he was going to get hit by a car.

When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a man in a ditch who seemed high as a kite to them. It also turned out that he had an open warrant for driving under a suspended license and driving without insurance.

Due to his condition, deputies sent for the rescue squad to take him to the hospital for evaluation.
