Passersby Gets Help For Man Having Medical Emergency

A man in need of help tried to flag down vehicles on St. Rte. 73, and several good Samaritans came to his aid.

At 8:23 am, a caller reported a man standing by the side of the road flagging down cars. Just a few minutes later, another caller contacted the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office with the man’s name and age and reported he was having severe chest pain and needed an ambulance. 

Yet another call for EMS help came in just a few minutes later. Dispatch sent an ambulance to the scene.

First Responders Aid Troubled Vet

Portsmouth Police Officers answered a request for a welfare check on a troubled veteran. Worried social service workers from SOMC told police they feared the man was suicidal.

Officers had been out to his home the previous day after a report from the VA that the man might harm himself. 

Police arranged for an ambulance, which transported the man to SOMC for treatment.
