Paul Grant Warnock, 91 of South Shore

Paul Grant Warnock, 91 of South Shore

Paul Grant Warnock, 91 of South Shore went to his heavenly home on August 16, 2022. Paul entered the world with a bang on July 4, 1931, the 10th of 12 children born to Ernest Francis and Essie Lozier Warnock.

A 1951 graduate of McKell High School, Paul was an all-around athlete but excelled on the football field as a quarterback and half-back. He was recruited by Paul “Bear” Bryant to play for the University of Kentucky, an opportunity he turned down to stay home and marry his high school sweetheart, Edna Ensor. Paul and Edna were married for 70 years and 11 months and raised 4 children.

Paul loved his family, his church, his co-workers, and his community. He started his working life as a grocery delivery driver for Roberson’s Department Store in South Shore, then moved across the street and spent 38 years at Stan Harvey Gas Company before finishing his career with 15 years at Arrick’s Propane. A faithful member of the Fullerton/South Shore First Methodist Church for more than 70 years, Paul served for over 20 years as Sunday School Superintendent. He also sang in the Chancel Choir and along with Edna served for a number of years as leaders of the youth group. He helped mold the lives and character of many young men in the South Shore community, serving as Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 98 for 12 years.

Preceded in death by his parents and all eleven of his siblings, he leaves behind a family thankful he is no longer in pain but heartbroken by his loss. His family includes his wife, Edna, children, Andrea Adams and her husband, Tony, of Sebring Florida, Fonda Warnock, Lance Warnock and his wife, Delana, and O’Neta Payton and her husband, Jeff, all of South Shore, grandchildren, Stacie Tillman and her husband, Brad of Springfield, Ohio, Kristin Lunsford and her husband, John of Atlanta, Georgia, Nicholas Warnock and his wife, Shawnda, and Aubrey Roy and her husband, Matt, both of Greenup, and his absolute joy, his great-grandchildren, Caden and Cali Warnock, Zachary and Austin Tillman, and Gavin and Lucy Roy. We had him for 91 years. It wasn’t nearly long enough.
