Phyllis Jean Williams

Phyllis Jean Williams, 90, of Wheelersburg, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Hospice of Cincinnati, Christ Hospital.  She was born May 14, 1934, in Kenova, West Virginia to the late Beverly and Adrian (Huff) Ball.  

Phyllis was a 1952 graduate of Portsmouth High School.  She started her career at Portsmouth Telephone Company and later worked as a secretary for both Portsmouth First Church of the Nazarene and First Christian Church.  She was a former member of Portsmouth First Church of the Nazarene and currently a member of Plymouth Heights Church of the Nazarene.  

Phyllis loved her Lord and Savior and loved teaching others about Jesus and taught children’s Sunday School for many years.  She loved music, sang in the church choir, and enjoyed going to Gaither concerts.  Phyllis also loved spending time with her family, going to family events, and taking trips to the beach and the mountains. She especially loved spending Christmas with her family.  She was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Wheelersburg Pirates fan. The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of Cincinnati at Christ Hospital for the care and attention given to Phyllis.

Phyllis is survived by two daughters, Carol Gandee (John) of Hamilton and Sheri Hollon (Bryan) of Hamilton, OH; two grandchildren, Brittany Gandee (Chase Godfrey) and Tyler Gandee (Jessica); and a great grandchild, Jameson; and many nieces and nephews.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Virgil Williams; a daughter, Susan K. Williams, three brothers, Garnett Ball, Rethal Ball, and Jimmy Ball; two sisters, Charlene Kowalsky and Dorothy Sparks. 

A Celebration of Life will be held 12:00 (NOON) on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Plymouth Heights Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Andy Ramey officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park. Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM Tuesday July 23, 2024 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME (WOLFE – NELSON CHAPEL) in Sciotoville and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.
