Phyllis Roselee “Rose” Lute, 84, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024, in McDermott, Ohio. She was born on June 27, 1940, in her grandparents’ home in Lucasville, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Emma Berniece Crabtree McClary and James Chester Jefferson McClary.
Rose is survived by her daughter, Angel (Lawrence) Kisor of McDermott, Ohio; her daughter-in-law of 21 years, Teresa Shelpman Hart of Otway, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jessica Rose (Shawn) Hoffer, Jordan Kisor, and Chelsea Kisor; and two great-grandchildren, Maddie and Eli Jeffrey Hoffer, all of McDermott, Ohio. She is also survived by two sisters, Debbie Crabtree of Lucasville, Ohio, and Rita (Terry) Altman of Lucasville, Ohio; two brothers, Tom (Mary) McClary of Otway, Ohio, and Jerry (Beth) McClary of Peebles, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Lute; her son, Jeffrey Duane Shelpman; two brothers, Raymond McClary and James McClary; and two sisters, Judy Hobbs and Betty Bittinger.
Rose worked as a caregiver for many years, a role she regarded as one of her most meaningful contributions to the world. She also cherished memories of working at Hoople’s Apple Orchard and loved sharing stories about her time there. Above all else, her family was her greatest joy, and her grandchildren were the light of her life. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday August 19, 2024, at McCullough Baptist Church, Lucasville, Ohio, with Pastor Robert Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Cooper Cemetery, Lucasville. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
