Police Bust Parolee for Second Time in a Week, Immediately Released

Portsmouth, Ohio, Police arrested a convicted drug trafficker early Tuesday morning at a Farley Square apartment, less than a week after they took him into custody for criminal trespass at the same apartment.

Last week police responded to a report of multiple people fighting with knives and guns at an apartment in the public housing project that was supposed to be empty.  Officers took Maxwell McGuire into custody. McGuire is currently on parole after serving time for drug trafficking and felonious assault. McGuire was released from jail almost immediately, but he didn’t stay out long.

At 12:30 am on Tuesday, an anonymous caller told police that there were once again people inside the vacant apartment.

When police arrived on the scene, they took McGuire into custody for criminal trespass since he is on the apartment complex’ barred list. Police also arrested another parolee, Brian Corron, for a parole violation. Corron has at least 20 previous arrests, including three for parole violations in the past three years.

Despite this being his second arrest and his being on parole, McGuire was released once again on a $250 bond. Corron was also released on his own recognizance.

Neither the Portsmouth Police, Scioto County Sheriff, nor the jail determines which inmates are released from jail. Portsmouth Municipal Court makes those decisions.
