Police Chase on 8th Street – Woman Arrested  

Police arrested a 47-year-old woman after an overnight pursuit that started on 8th Street. When police tried to pull the vehicle over, the woman kept going onto 7th and then turned onto Charles, finally stopping in the 2100 block.  

Officers took Rachael McGinnis into custody and confirmed that she also had an open warrant from Scioto County Sheriff’s Office.  

They charged her with failure to comply with a police order and on a theft warrant. This was her fourth arrest. Previous charges included theft, probation violation, and obstructing justice. 

She was released on her own recognizance per the court.  

Deputies Investigate Fight at Quality Inn 

Deputies responded to a report of a fight at the Quality Inn on the Old Scioto Trail at 4 am. Witnesses said they overheard a man and woman fighting in the room, and he believed it had become physical. 

A night clerk used a key card to unlock the door, but the inside clasp prevented entry. A deputy knocked multiple times and identified themselves but could not get an answer.  

Shirtless Man Waves Knives in Road 

Deputies responded to a report of a shirtless man with long hair waving knives in the road near Firehouse Fitness on St. Rte. 139. 

When police responded to the scene, they discovered that a man was in the midst of a mental health crisis. His wife said she would keep an eye on him and call the police if he got out of control.  

Panhandler Bothers Store Customers 

A witness contacted deputies at 2:30 pm to report that a man was panhandling outside the Country Store Foods South on St. Rte. 140.  

The caller said the man also sleeps behind the store some of the time.  

Deputies spoke to the man and advised him to leave the property.
