Police Get Urgent Medical Help for Break-In Suspect

A report of an attempted garage break-in on Charles Street resulted in the suspect getting some urgently needed medical help.

Just before 2 am, a witness reported a man in a gray hoodie attempting to get into a garage in the alley on Charles Street.

When officers responded to the scene and spoke to the suspect, they determined he was suffering from mental health issues. They also discovered he had an open colostomy and that the bag was very old.

Police said the man needed a new bag and to and to have the area of the stoma cleaned. An ambulance transported him to SOMC for treatment.

Officer Unsticks Closet Door

Portsmouth Police Officers provide all types of services to residents, including helping one concerned woman with a stubborn closet door.

Just before 1 pm on Sunday, a woman contacted police to report her closet door wouldn’t open, but she heard a strange click when she walked away. She feared someone was holding it shut from the inside and wanted the police to check the house.

An officer responded to the scene and discovered the door was stuck but noted it was giving a delayed click. The officer managed to unstick the door.
