Police Investigate Issues at Both Krogers

Kroger

The Kroger on Gay Street continued to be a hub of bad behavior. Just before noon, Portsmouth Police Officers responded to the store for a report of a man trying to make off with a cart.

The man has a history of taking carts, and has been barred from the property because of it. However, he left the scene before the police got there.

About an hour later, officers returned to the store for a report of a shoplifter. When police confronted the woman, they learned she had open warrants from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office and Pike County. Pike County didn’t want her held for their warrant.

Her male companion also had an open warrant, and his was with the New Boston Police Department. Officers transported the man to New Boston and the woman to the Scioto County Jail. She was booked on an open warrant for endangering children.

Passed Out at the Wheelersburg Kroger

A caller contacted the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office to report a man passed out in a vehicle near the donation dumpsters at the Wheelersburg Kroger.

A deputy searched the vehicle in an attempt to figure out what the victim had ingested and sent for an ambulance to assist the man.

Deputies also responded to the rest area at US HGWY 23 to pick up a woman from Pike County Sheriff’s Deputies with an open warrant from New Boston.

Deputies learned she had overdosed earlier in the day and had a large cut on her leg. Due to the open wound and the fact that the woman appeared to still be overdosing, the deputy called for an ambulance to take the woman to the hospital.
