Portsmouth police responded to multiple calls involving dogs on Thursday, including one where a pup was rescued from a filthy home.  Plus, the curious case of a stranger who wanted to bum a shower. Get Out Of The House

Officers found a woman inside an abandoned 6th Street house just before 1 am. It turned out she had a warrant from New Boston Police.

NPBD officers arrived on the scene to serve the warrant. Portsmouth Police told her if she didn’t stay out of the house, she’d be charged with criminal trespassing.

Officer forwarded a report on the home to the Health Department.

Confused With No Place To Go

A man wandered into Hallmark Health Care on Gay Street just after 11 am to ask for help.  The confused man said he didn’t know where he was.  He was only wearing a pair of shorts.

Officers recognized him but couldn’t take him home. Police said they arrested hi for domestic violence the night before. Due to the arrest,  he was barred from his house.  Police transported him to SOMC to see a psychiatrist.

Can I Borrow A Shower?

A 24th Street caller reported a man in a red truck parked in the alley between 24th and 23rd Street just after 11:30 am. The guy went door-to-door asking if he could take a shower.  The caller later reported the stranger had left the scene.

Checkout Time

The Royal Inn on Kendall Avenue asked for help with a man who refused to check out at 12:26 pm. Turned out there was a civil issue over how much was owed.

The guy agreed to leave his room key and Portsmouth Ambulance transported him to SOMC.

Happy Birthday

An angry mom reported an unruly 17-year-old daughter to police just after 2 pm. She claimed the girl was taking property and getting ready to leave in a gray minivan.

When officers got there, they discovered the girl would turn 18 at midnight. Mom agreed to allow her to leave and move in with another family member.

This Property Is Condemned

PPD assisted the health department with a house check on Walnut Street just after 2 pm. The back door was open. Police found horrible conditions inside but no one was home.

The Health Department condemned the house and removed a dog. Police marked a junked van on the property.

Threatened With A Knife

A caller reported he’d a  man threatened him with a knife just before 3 pm. When police arrived at the Waller Street address, they arrested the suspect. The Sheriff’s Department already had a warrant for him.
