Portsmouth Deadly Shooting Timeline

New details on the deadly Portsmouth shooting that claimed the lives of two men in the early hours of Sunday morning. An image of what appeared to be two deceased individuals covered in a tarp lying at the scene hours after the shooting generated a large number of comments on social media. 

Portsmouth Police have released the official police log of the incident that gives insight into what happened and when. 

2:23 am –  A caller reports someone lying in the road in the 700 block of Chillicothe Street. The witnesses also say they heard gunfire. Officers arrive at the scene and discover two victims shortly afterward. 

2:30 – 2:42 am – Dispatch begins contacting additional units to come in. 

3:01 am – Police establish a crime scene in the area. 

4:27 am – Officers take two individuals into the station to give statements. 

6:12 am – An investigator from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrives at the scene. 

6:37 am – Second BCI investigator arrives at the scene.

7:15 am – Third BCI investigator arrives at the scene. 

7:22 am – The coroner arrives at the scene. 

8:54 am – Coroner transport arrives on scene. 

3:11 pm – Officers identify and impound a vehicle in Wheelersburg. 

3:25 pm –  Tow company brings vehicle to impound lot. 

Portsmouth Police have asked members of the public to come forward with any details about the shooting. 

While police have not yet officially identified the victims of this weekend’s deadly double shooting, according to a statement by Toro Loco Restaurant, the two men were employees of the popular dining destination. They named Abraham Velasco and Xavier Luna in a heartfelt announcement.
