Portsmouth Funeral Home In Trouble: Chemicals and Personal Files Open To Vandals

The Ohio State Board of Funeral Directors contacted police after members discovered an unsecured door and private files at the site of the Adkins-Brant Funeral Home.

The building was operated as Brant Funeral Home for decades. The business transitioned to a long-time funeral director of the Brant Funeral Services. It was rebranded and prepared to open.

Reportedly, before they could host a single funeral, it was damaged in a fire back in January 2019.

A single sheet of plywood was placed over the hole and the building has laid in state every since. As you can see in the photo, the plywood has fallen from the building. No apparent efforts to replace or fix it have been made.

Portsmouth Ohio Police officers searched inside the building. They didn’t find anyone inside but noticed there were multiple ways to get into the building that can be easily observed from outside.

In addition, there were private files and embalming chemicals left behind. The files contained confidential information.
