Portsmouth Man Arrested for 39th Time

Portsmouth Police booked a troubled man into the jail for the 39th time and officers leapt into immediate action when a Wayne Avenue caller reported kids in danger. We break down the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.

Under The Influence

Late Night at the Royal Inn

A caller from the Royal Inn reported a phone stolen at 2:28 am. However, when an officer arrived to the scene, he admitted he might have lost it.

While leaving the Royal Inn at 2:51 am, the officer noticed a man stumbling around the parking lot. The man said he was tired and getting a room at the Inn.

Over at the Four Keys Inn, a manager called police around 4 am to report a woman knocking on doors and screaming in the parking lot. It turned out she was the same woman from the bar fight at JJ Shenanigans. Police advised her to calm down.

No Place To Go

An officer spotted a man driving through the parking lots of closed businesses near the Portsmouth Cinema.

When he spoke to the guy, he learned the man and his son are homeless and living in a vehicle. Since both had valid IDs and no warrants, the officer suggested they got to the homeless shelter.

Kids In Danger

Hey! That’s My Stuff!

Just after 4 pm, a caller from Kroger reported a stolen wallet. The wallet contained a license, credit cards, and a debit call.

Traffic Stop Turns Up Fentanyl and Heroin

An 8th Street traffic stop at 5:44 pm turned up dangerous opioids. Officers discovered a white powder that the driver admitted was fentanyl and heroin.

The tags on the vehicle were also fictitious. Police arrested the man.
