Portsmouth Man ODs Twice in Two Hours

A Portsmouth man overdosed twice in two hours and a man calls the cops because someone disrespected his hat. We break down the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.

Man ODs Twice in Two Hours

Just before 7 pm, police responded to a report of an apparent OD in the front yard of a High Street residence. The man’s wife was unsure if he was breathing. Police, medics, and drug rehab personnel arrived on the scene. Medics treated the man, who refused transport.

Officers were called back to the scene just after 9 pm for another overdose call for the same man. He agreed to allow an ambulance to transport him to the hospital.

Under The Influence

• At 7:30 pm, a caller reported a man passed out in the recycling bin behind Barbour Auto Parts. Officers took the man into custody.
• Just after 8 pm, a caller reported multiple subjects engaging in drug activity on Robinson Avenue. 
• A Woodbine Apartment resident contacted police at 11 pm to report his girlfriend assaulted him. He told police the woman was on drugs and had been drinking. Upon further discussion, police discovered he was claiming the woman disrespected his hat. Police chose not to file a report. 
• At 6 am, a caller reported an extremely intoxicated man carrying a bag near the Young Street Overpass.

Bar Fights

Just before 10 pm, officers responded to a bar fight at Frank & Steins Lounge on Chillicothe. The bartender told police, the combatants left before they arrived.

At 2 am, a caller reported someone outside Frank & Steins Lounge threatening to shoot someone.

Suspicious Activity

• At 11:21 pm, a caller reported a woman had strewn trash out in front of a 17th Street Laundromat. Officers advised her to clean up the area and leave the property. Police discovered she had a valid warrant through the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office and took the woman into custody.
• Twenty minutes later, they arrested another person with an open warrant through the Sheriff’s Office on 17th Street. The man was wanted for a TPO violation. Police took him to the jail for booking. 

Grand Theft Auto

Just before 1 am, a Wayne Avenue caller reported her 2013 Dodge Charger stolen.

Missing Child

Adams County officers contacted PPD and asked them to check an 8th Street home for a missing kid who may have gone to the address.

The people at the home said they would keep an eye out for the girl and contact officers if she shows up.

Bridge Jumper Reported

Just before 4 am, a caller reported someone running down Chillicothe towards the Grant Bridge, possibly intending to jump off. 

Police could not locate the subject.
