Police arrested a Portsmouth, Ohio mom after she admitted to hitting her daughter in the head with a TV. Not to be left out, both of her kids were arrested, too. It all started as an argument over helping out with groceries.
The brawl took place at the Grandview Avenue home of the kids’ great-grandmother. Both grandma and great-grandma were at the house but not involved in the brawl.
After a long day at soccer and band camp, the kids came home and were ready for a rest. The great-grandmother asked the kids to bring the groceries in from the car. The son did it all by himself and was angry that his sister didn’t help out. He started moving things his sister’s belongings around loudly to express his displeasure. She admitted to kicking at him and claimed he then punched her in the face. After that, the brother said his sister tried to stab him with a pair of scissors. The sister later demonstrated to police how she was swinging the scissors in an up and down motion. The brother grabbed her hand and took them away.
Mom Steps In
That’s when 38-year-old Olivia Williams intervened. Williams told police she didn’t see the original altercation. She attempted to take the TV away from her daughter. She told police the daughter blocked her way, pushed and squeezed her until she couldn’t breathe but eventually let her go. That’s when Williams admitted to hitting her daughter with the television.
Officers said no one involved had any visible injuries.
After hearing the story, the police read all involved their rights. Police arrested Ms. Williams was arrested for domestic violence. Officers charged the siblings with charged with assault and domestic violence. Police transported the kids to the Ross County Juvenile Detention facility. Ms. Williams was taken to the Scioto County Jail.
Portsmouth Municipal Court appointed a public defender for Williams. The court scheduled a pre-trial hearing for September 29.
