From the pages of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing

Child Afraid to Leave With Mom

Just after 4 am, police responded to a complaint about an 11-year- old child who didn’t want to leave with her mother because she was on drugs.

The mom left before the police arrived. The mom of one of the girl’s friends said she could stay with them.

Troubled Teen

Parents contacted the police at 5:16 am because their 14-year-old daughter left the home without permission.

The child returned home but officers said she was very rude with both officers and her parents. Portsmouth Police advised her if her parents need to call them again, she’ll end up in juvenile court.

Welfare Check

PPD officers accompanied CPS to the Four Keys Inn for a welfare check at 5:30 pm. CPS wanted to check on a child whose parents had been avoiding CPS.

There was no answer at their room. Witnesses said the pair had recently walked off down the Scioto Trail.

Forty-five minutes later the pair returned to their room and police arrived to check on the child. Everything checked okay.

Unruly Daughter

Just before 7 pm, police answered a report of a woman laying on the front porch of a Mound Street residence and arguing with the residents.

Officers spoke to the property owner, who was also the woman’s mom. She wanted her daughter to leave. Police escorted the woman off the property.
