Driving While Dumpster Diving

Officers responded to Gallia and Kendall at 6:46 am for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Police spoke to two men in a vehicle. Inside the car, police found a police-style scammer, trash, and lots of other items. The pair claimed to be dumpster diving but were unable to get to the dumpster at that location due to a fence.

Police cited the driver for a suspended license and expired tags. They impounded the vehicle due to poor condition.

Suspect Crashes During Hot Pursuit

A driver crashed into a house while running from Police. The chase started at 8:21 am on Young Street. Two minutes later, the driver crashed into the property on Franklin Avenue and took off on foot, fleeing to a house on Highland.

Officers send for a tow truck for the vehicle and sent two units to the Oasis Convenient mart as well. Police discovered several syringes in the vehicle.

Suspicious Activity

Just before 9 am, a caller reported a woman sleeping under the awning at Portsmouth High School. The woman said she didn’t want medical assistance. Police told her to move.

Weeds Set Off Alarm

When the weeds get high enough to set off a motion alarm, it may be time to mow. Just after 11:30 am, police responded to a motion sensor alarm at the Washington Street Impound lot.

Officer believe weeds growing along the fence line set off the alarm. Everything else was secure. Officers reset the alarm.

DOA

The site manager of the Park Apartments found a deceased resident at 11:42 am. Officers contacted the coroner.

The coroner released the body to the family and officers notified the next of kin. A funeral home picked up the departed just before 1 pm.

Taser Deployed

What started as an EMS call for a seizure ended with police needing to deploy a taser. The uncooperative subject got into a wrestling match with an officer and out came the stun gun.

Can’t We All Just Get Along?

Officers responded to a fight involving 10 kids on 6th Street at 5:49 pm. Police advised all involved to behave.

Double Dumpster Fires

At 5:16 pm, a call came in for a dumpster fire on Robinson Avenue.

Thirty minutes later, another call for the same flaming dumpster.

At 7:30 pm, police made contact with the suspect in a Wheelersburg fire.

I Want My Mom

A frustrated teenager punched holes in the wall and overturned his TV at his grandparents’ home because he wanted to go be with his mom.

His grandparents have custody and police said it appeared the mother was encouraging his anger. An officer had a chat with the young man.
