A missed tattoo appointment leads to death threats and officers arrest a naked man on the levy for the third time in three days. We hit the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Flaming Shoes
- Just after 5 am, officers received a report of shoes on fire next to a vehicle in the 1900 block of Thomas Avenue.
- Forty-five minutes later officers assisted the fire department with a burning truck on Royce Street. Police said that the fire was likely accidental.
Parking Crackdown
- Police towed two vehicles from an Argonne Road address just before 8 am. One was cited for expired tags and the other for fictitious tags.
- Just before 9 am, they towed another vehicle from Kinneys Lane for fictitious tags.
- At 8:44 pm, police found a Buick with fictitious tags parked in a lot on Bahner Road. There was a Sawzall in the front seat. Officers were unable to contact the registered owner. They arranged to have the vehicle towed.
The Kids Are All Right
Piketon Schools asked police to perform a welfare check for kids who were enrolled in the system but hadn’t been to school for two weeks.
Their father explained to police that he had recently contacted COVID and sent the kids to stay elsewhere. Police said the children were all right and the home was fine.
They asked the person looking after the kids to contact the school to update them on the situation.
This Property Is Condemned
Code Enforcement asked officers to assist them while they condemned a house on 6th Street. A man on the scene was causing an issue but once police arrived, he calmed down.
Mom’s in Trouble
Officers picked up a woman with open warrants just after 1 pm. They had to contact CPS to make arrangements for her children, who were in school.
Their grandfather made plans to pick them up and school and CPS planned to follow up with him later.
Under The Influence
Just before 2 pm, a caller reported a man in a red hoodie stumbling out into traffic. Police took him into custody.
Car Complaint
The owner of a used car dealer contacted police just before 4 pm to report that a dissatisfied customer kept calling the business screaming and cussing. She was angry about the repossession of her vehicle.
Officers contacted the woman who had the same complaint about the business. Police advised them to keep it civil.
Naked on the Levy
Just after 5 pm, a caller reported a naked man on the levy near Bob & Floyd’s Tire Sales.
Police found a man they have nearly daily contact with and arrested him for the 42nd time total and the 3rd time this week.
Officers transported him to the Scioto County Jail.
Tattoo Threats
The owner of Shamrock Tattoos contacted police at 5:14 pm to report that an unhappy customer threatened to kill them.
The man, who was upset over a miscommunication about an appointment allegedly threatened to, “Kill you, you white bitch.”
The owner returned the angry man’s deposit and offered a half-price tattoo, but this did not satisfy the customer.
Hey! That’s My Stuff
- At 9:14 am, the Dollar General on Harding reported a man left the store with a basket full of merchandise. Police too information for a report.
- Two minutes later, a man called from the Park and Ride to report a stolen catalytic converter.
Threat To Jump
A worried dad contacted police just before 3 am to report his son threatened to jump off a bridge.
Officers checked the last location where the man was seen and several local bridges but could not find the guy.
