Portsmouth Police dealt with a homeless woman who’d rather live under a bridge than let them find her a place to stay and yet another attempt to get into the Goodwill. We break down a busy day in these next 13 slides.
Meanwhile at Speedway
AT 1 am, a Speedway employee reported a woman in a pink hat shoplifting from the store. Police took information for a report.
Keep It Down
At 1:30 am, an Argonne Road caller report neighbors making noise on 4-wheelers. It was quiet when police arrived. They advised the resident of the complaint.
Goodwill Groupies
Once again, a Robinson Avenue caller reported people breaking into the fenced area of Goodwill. Officers said no one was inside the fence when they arrived.
They did observe subjects on bikes riding away from the area. When they caught up with them, the subjects denied being at Goodwill.
Turn Yourself In
At 4:30 am, a caller advised police a man with a warrant was waiting at 15th and Waller to turn himself in. Police picked him up five minutes later.
Rather Live Under A Bridge
Police answered a call to the Streich Apartments on Washington Street just after 8 am. The landlord reported a woman in the basement he wanted to leave.
She admitted she was not a tenant but claimed another tenant invited her. Police told her if the landlord wants her gone, she needs to leave.
Officers called the homeless shelter and attempted to arrange for a place to live. The woman said she didn’t want to go there and would prefer to live under a bridge.
Hey! That’s My Stuff
- Officers responded to Gallia Street at 9:22 am for a woman screaming about someone stealing her phones. She said the suspects took her Samsung Galaxy, ZTE flip phone, and huffy bicycle. She said the theft happened in New Boston. Portsmouth Police explained she needed to report it there.
- At 10:15 am, a Shawnee Road caller reported stolen tools. Police took a report over the phone.
8 Guys With A Safe
At 10:34 am, police received a report of 8 people pulling a safe on a dolly on Gallia Street.
Police checked at Aldi and Speedway but couldn’t locate them.
Suspicious and Shirtless
- A Center Street caller reported a shirtless man entered a burnt out building at 11:38 pm.
- At 4:10 pm, officers answered a call about a man screaming outside the 17th Street Learning Center. He claimed a woman he knew was inside the building. Police advised him not to return to the property.
Running Scared
Just before noon, a man called police to 17th Street to report his girlfriend sent people after him. He said he had her arrested for domestic violence and now she’d sent people to ‘put their hands on him.’
Police didn’t see anyone in the area but they did give him a ride home.
Under the Influence
- At 12:41 pm, officers responded to a report of a man lying in a field on 8th Street. Medics administered Narcan to revive him. An ambulance took him to SOMC.
- Just after 11 pm, police answered a mutual aid call from New Boston for a vehicle sitting in the road on Lakeview with a man passed out at the wheel. Officers could not find the vehicle.
- Police responded to a report of people arguing over drugs on Kendall Avenue at 11:07 pm. The caller said they had bats in hand. Officers could not locate the subjects.
- At 11:15 pm, a caller reported a man passed out near the fence between the Woodbine apartments and the laundromat.
Pregnant Teen Threatened
Police were called to 7th street after a mom went to confront people who she claimed threatened her pregnant 16-year-old daughter.
Officers advised the woman to avoid contact with the people involved and call the police if there was another incident.
Cry For Help
A Grandview Avenue woman called 911 multiple times around 10 pm. Police said she was also screaming. Officers said it appeared to be a mental health issue. An ambulance transported her to SOMC for treatment.
Kids In Danger?
Just before 11 pm, a caller reported adults in a 7th Street home were drinking with a 4-year-old, 14-year-old, and 15-year-old present.
Police said there were no children or teens in the home.
