Portsmouth Post Names Trooper of the Year

Portsmouth Trooper of the Year

A Portsmouth native has been named the 2026 Trooper of the Year at the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Portsmouth Post.

Trooper Trevor R. Webster was selected for the honor by fellow officers at the post in recognition of his work throughout 2026.

According to the Patrol, Webster was chosen based on his leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic attitude and cooperation with supervisors, fellow officers and the public.

Webster is now in contention for the District Trooper of the Year and State Trooper of the Year awards, which will be announced later.

The award has a strong local connection.

Webster is originally from Portsmouth and graduated from Portsmouth High School in 2014.

He then served in the U.S. Army from 2014 through 2017 with the 3rd Infantry Division.

Webster joined the Ohio State Highway Patrol in 2024 and has served at the Portsmouth Post since graduating from the Training Academy.

He also continued his education while serving, earning an associate degree in Criminal Justice from Southern New Hampshire University in 2026.

During his Highway Patrol career, Webster has earned several honors, including the Traffic Safety Award, Criminal Patrol Award, Star Level Fitness Award, Education Award and Military Service Award.

Now the Portsmouth graduate can add Trooper of the Year to that list — with a chance to advance to district and statewide recognition.
