A Portsmouth woman came home to find a surprise guest sleeping in her bed and a man thought a police car was a good place to hide drug paraphernalia. (Hint: it’s not.) Those are just some of the calls in the Portsmouth Police. We break down the highlights in these next 6 slides.
Someone’s Sleeping In My Bed
Just before 1 am a Thomas Avenue woman told police she’d left her door unlocked to run to the store. When she got home, the door was locked and someone was inside the home.
Police tried to contact PMHA to get a key but couldn’t get in touch with anyone. Officers asked the Portsmouth Fire Department to break into the apartment.
Once officers got inside, they discovered a man sleeping in the upstairs bedroom. He told police the woman’s father gave him permission to stay in the apartment. The woman chose not to press charges.
Not The Best Place To Hide Your Drugs
At 12:56 am, officers responded to 8th Street for a report of two people wandering in the road. Officers discovered a warrant for one of the men and took him into custody.
The guy tried to hide a drug straw inside a cruiser and then take suspected meth into the Scioto County Jail. The officer sent the suspected drugs for testing.
Busted Up
- Police answered a call to the Holiday Inn on 2nd Street at 5 am for a report of a busted window on a car. The caller said the perp drove off in a gray van.
- At 5:30 am, a 24th Street caller reported a blonde woman got out of a gray car and destroyed pumpkins with a baseball bat then left the area.
Hey! That’s My Stuff
- Officers were called to Vern Riffe School just before 7 am. Someone stole catalytic converters from parked buses.
- At 9:29 am, Kings Daughters’ Medical Center reported a theft. Catalytic converters were missing from several of their vehicles.
- A woman called the police to report a medication theft at 1:40 pm. She said she’s a hospice patient and she thinks she knows who took her drugs. Police gave her a theft of drugs form.
- The Hilltop Market reported a shoplifter with a black bookbag just before 4 pm. The shoplifter left before the police arrived.
Under The Influence
- Just before 1 pm, a caller reported a woman in a black hoodie staggering in the road on Young Street. Police could not locate her.
- Just after 3 pm, officers answered a report of a man passed out in a truck at the Rally’s. Police took him into custody and had the vehicle towed.
- A caller reported an apparently high man peeing in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn. The man appeared highly intoxicated. He denied peeing in the parking lot. Police let him go. However, later they got another call from a woman that said he had passed out. He refused medical treatment.
- Police responded to a report of a man passed out on Wayne Avenue with a possible overdose at 4:19 pm. Police took him into custody.
- A caller reported a man passed out in a truck at the pump at Speedway just after 5 pm. He seemed fine when police arrived.
Can’t We All Just Get Along?
- At 1:31 the manager and a customer at Speedway called the police on each other. The woman complained she was asked for ID and about someone not wearing a mask. The manager wanted the woman to leave.
- Police responded to a report of a disturbance on Harrison Street at 2 pm. A woman complained of harassment by a neighbor. Witnesses observed both parties yelling at each other. Officers advised them to stop calling each other names.
- A neighbor reported a man and woman screaming and throwing things in a Kendall Avenue apartment just after 9 pm. By the time police arrived, the woman had left and the man was packing his stuff.
