PPD Assists CPS on Multiple Calls

CPS

Just before 11 am, Portsmouth Police officers assisted CPS workers in removing children from a 17th Street home. They were able to remove the children without incident.

Officers once again came to the aid of CPS workers at 2:30 pm. Workers were attempting to pick up children from a Vermont Avenue home, but no one would answer the door.

When officers arrived on the scene, they were able to retrieve the children without issue.

Out in the Road

Police responded to a report of a woman walking in the street in the 3000 block of Gallia. When officers spoke to her, she claimed walking on the sidewalks ruined her shoes.

A Custus Steet caller contacted police to report a child playing in the street with a wheelchair. She further advised she took a picture of the child, and he wasn’t happy about it. By the time deputies arrived on the scene, the children had left the area. An officer looked around but didn’t see the kids.

Officers Investigate Child Sex Offense

A concerned mother asked deputies to meet her at the Route 140 Park and Ride to report a sex offense against her daughter.

Investigators headed to the address where the alleged incident took place to speak with the suspect. The suspect had left the property by the time officers arrived.

The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office will continue the investigation.
