Portsmouth Police answered a very odd call on Friday involving a missing person, flies, and changed locks. Alleged Assaults
- At 12:31 am, a woman called police from the SOMC ER to reported that her boyfriend assaulted her. Officers took a report.
- Police responded to a report from a woman who claimed her daughter was assaulted by her boyfriend on 7th Street just after 1:30 am. When officers arrived, the daughter told police nothing physical happened.
- A man called police at 1:14 pm to report that a man assaulted his daughter and tore up her Wayne Avenue Apartment.
Get Out Of My Apple Tree
A woman reported people up in her apple trees just before 1 am. She requested that an officer drive through the alley near Robinson Avenue. When police drove by, the unwanted tree climbers were gone.
Under The Influence
- Officers responded to the Super Quik on the Scioto Trail just before 4 am for a report of a highly intoxicated man and woman in a white pickup at the gas pump. Police allowed someone to come pick up the pair’s dog and took both into custody.
- A drunk man refused to leave Greenlawn Cemetery at 7:55 am. The man finally got up, packed up his belongings, and his fishing rog and left just after 8 am.
- A caller reported subjects snorting drugs in a white minivan at the Marathon Station on the Scioto Train just before 2 pm. The caller said children were witnessing the drug use. The van was gone by the time police arrived.
- At 4:52 pm, an apparently intoxicated man was reported cussing and attempting to get into a building on Kinneys Lane. Officers took him home.
- Officers were called to Arby’s on Chillicothe for a report for a high man and woman locked in the bathroom. They were gone by the time police arrived. Police later found the pair passed out at the US Bank Main Branch and took them into custody.
- A woman reported a drunken man screaming outside her Mound Street home at 11:49 pm. He was gone when officers arrived.
- Just before midnight, a caller reported a woman lying on the sidewalk in front of the Silver Palace. When police spoke to her, she said she would go home.
Meanwhile at Speedway
James Wilson, who recently got out of jail for trespassing at the Speedway on Gallia, was back at the store once again harassing customers.
When police arrived, they found him passed out in the bathroom. He was taken to the Scioto County Jail
Cone Controversy
Police responded to a call on Offnere Street just before 10 am. A neighbor complained that a resident a couple of house down had set up cones to block the parking spots in front of the house.
Turns out they were having trees cut down. The cones were intended to protect vehicles from damage.
No Help Wanted
Family members contacted police at 10:37 am to go with them to check on the welfare of an elderly Park Avenue resident. The resident did not want the family inside the house.
Hey, That’s My Stuff
- A man contacted police just after 11 am to report someone was threatening him because he believed he stole his lottery ticket. He was informed that it was a civil issue.
- Police responded to 5th Street at 11:19 am for a report of two men breaking into a house. The suspects were gone when police arrived.
Let Behind
A worker at the Four Keys Inn called officers just after noon to report a gun was found in a room. Police impounded the weapon.
Kendall Avenue Confidential
- Juvenile Court officers asked for assistance in transporting a subject from the Woodbine Apartments just before 1 pm.
- Police were flagged down on Kendall Avenue by a woman who claimed a man was at the Oasis Convenient Mart offering money to anyone who would fight her. She did not want to file a report.
- A caller reported people fighting behind the Royal Inn just before 11 pm. They were gone by the time police arrived.
Flies and Missing Persons
Officers received a very strange call just after 6 pm. A man reported that he hadn’t seen a friend for a few days and he was very concerned because there were flies on the windows of her Kendall Avenue apartment.
When police went to check, a neighbor informed them that PMHA had changed the locks, so there was no way someone was inside.
Police confirmed the story with PMHA. Officers learned the woman’s child was taken into custody by CPS and that the locks were changed. There was no way the woman could be inside unless the apartment had been broken into it.
Since the locks were intact, officers decided it was unlikely anyone was inside.
Custody Crisis
A woman called police to a Grandview Avenue home at 2:40 pm to complain her parents would not return her daughters to her.
Officers discovered that the grandparents have full custody of the children and an upcoming court date is scheduled in the matter.
Family Drama
Feuding family members resulted in a police call to 21st Street at 4 pm. They were allegedly yelling at each other over property belonging to an aunt.
The locks had been changed and the family members wanted inside. Police said no one had a will or proper documentation over who the property belonged to. Police informed them that nobody had the right to take the property until the paperwork was completed.
Kids Behaving Badly
- At 5 pm, a woman told police her neighbor’s 10-year-old son popped her 7-year-old son’s bike tire. She claimed both the boy and his father had threatened her family with violence.
- Just before 6 pm, a Wilson Avenue woman said her 12-year-old busted down her door, shattered glass, and broke a shelf.
Child in Danger
A toddler was discovered walking in the middle of Kent Street just after 8:30 pm. Police took a report.
