No Sense of Direction

Just after 3 am, police responded to a report of someone stealing items off porches in the Baird Avenue area. While looking for the suspect, officers caught up with a woman walking in the alley between Franklin and Hutchins Street.

Policed asked where she was heading and she pointed toward Wayne Hills and said she was headed to “The Ville.”

The officer pointed out that was the nickname for Farley Square and that she was pointing in the wrong direction. She told police she’d not seen anyone suspicious in the area. However, she was unable to provide her SSN or a driver’s license. When police ran her name, they discovered she had an active warrant. They took her to jail.

Suspicious Activity

A Grant Street caller reported people in his back yard at 4:25 am. He said they might have attempted to get in his window.

Police could not locate the suspects.

Under The Influence

Stolen Catalytic Converter

Yet another catalytic converter theft. This time from a Uhaul truck on Walnut street. The theft happened on 11-3 between 4:38 and 4:43 am.  There was a video of the incident but the faces of the suspects were covered.

Child In Danger

Just after 10:15 am, officers received a report of possible child abuse.

Trashy Vehicle

Officers responded to Kroger at 11:54 am for a report of a Toyota Prius parked in a handicapped spot for a week without moving. The vehicle was also stuffed with trash.

However, the vehicle did have a handicapped placard, so it was not in violation of the handicapped ordinance.

Stolen Gun

A Harrison Street resident called police at noon to report a stolen handgun. He believed his daughter took the weapon and pawned it.

Attempted ID Theft

A 17th Street caller reported a suspicious call about their Social Security Number at 12:21 pm. Police advised the person to notify the Social Security Administration.

Dogs Left In Car

A caller reported two small dogs left in a vehicle near AT&T Wireless on Gallia at 12:43 pm. Officers advised the owner.

Cleanup on Aisle 17

At 3:38 pm, officers answered a call to Kroger regarding a man knocking items off the shelves in aisle 17. He left the store and headed to Tracy Park. He then took off running and ended up in the Arby’s drive-thru where he began to fight with another man.

Police put cuffs on him but he kept fighting them. They took him to jail.

Throuple Turns Violent

Police answered a domestic violence call at a PHMA Apartment just before 9 pm. Three adults living in the apartment are involved in a three-way romantic relationship.

Officers arrested a man and woman in connection with the incident. CPS was called in to determine what should happen to the children of one of the arrested suspects.

Meanwhile at Speedway

At 9:37 pm, officers responded to a report of a man acting strangely at Speedway. The caller reported the man had a gun and seemed angry at the gas pump.

Officers searched the vehicle and found a pellet gun that resembles a handgun. They arrested the man on a bench warrant and arranged to have the truck towed.

Worried Brother

A man called police at 11 pm to report that his sister with Alzheimer’s had wandered off. She was currently with a neighbor up the street but refused to leave.

She consented to leave with the rescue squad and her brother met her at the hospital.
