Portsmouth Police had another day of handing out speeding tickets on Scioto Trail. At 3:30 pm, they stopped a vehicle with two adults and a child for going 50 in a 35 mph zone. The family explained they were headed to see a dying relative. Officers issued a speeding citation.
Twenty minutes later, they caught a motorcycle going 68 in a 35 mph zone. The driver did not have a motorcycle endorsement on their license. Officers issued two citations but noted the driver was polite and cooperative.
At around the same time, PPD ticked a driver for going 51 in a 35 mph zone on Mabert.
At 4:30 p.m., officers stopped a driver for doing 51 in a 35 mph zone on Scioto Trail. The driver said he believed the speed limit to be 45. The officers noted the driver was polite and issued him a ticket.
At 5 pm, they cited a driver for going 53 in a 35 mph zone. She explained she was in a hurry to get to her medicine. Officers issued a speeding ticket but noted the driver was cooperative.
Shortly after that they issued another ticket for driving 50 in a 35 in the same block of Scioto Trail.
PPD Cracks Down on Speeders
Portsmouth Police Officers were out in force on Monday, targeting speeders and other traffic violations.
Officers cited five drivers between 9 am and 11 am for speeding. Additionally, they warned two drivers in the Walnut Street area for traffic violations.
They also responded to Robinson and Young after a truck took out the flashing yellow light at the intersection. Officers cited two vehicles for moving violations in that area during the next hour.
