PPD Investigates Kent Street Shooting

developing story

At 12:02 pm, a caller contacted 9-1-1 to report an overnight shooting at the Kent Street Apartments, but no one had called the police.

Officers discovered shell casings and bullet holes near an apartment. Police also found a suspect with an open warrant and transported a woman to the police station for questioning.

The police report is heavily redacted, but officers appear to have contacted someone’s next of kin before obtaining a search warrant for the apartment.

Police executed the search warrant just after 3 pm and booked Molli Chabot into the Scioto County Jail on an outstanding warrant. Officers secured the scene and began an investigation into what happened.

The next afternoon, witnesses spotted a man with a backpack crawling through the window of the same apartment. Police picked him up on a parole violation warrant, booked him into the Scioto County Jail, and immediately released him.
