Trash Fire
- Just after 2 am, officers received a report that a trashcan was set on fire on Valley Street. The resident said she suspected her ex-boyfriend in the fire.
- She did not witness him setting the fire.
- Officers made a note of her complaint for future reference.
Hit/Skip
Officers responded to an injury crash at 17th and Kendall just after noon. Witnesses said a tan Buick involved in the incident left the scene.
Police traced the car to a New Boston address and went to look for the driver.
Can You Spare A Dime?
Once again, callers reported aggressive panhandlers in the Gallia Street area. This time it happened at the AT&T Wireless at 2:40 pm.
And once again, the suspect was gone by the time police arrived.
This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things
At 3:14 pm, a man reported that his vehicle was broken into overnight on Bloom Street. The driver’s side back window was smashed.
Several items were taken from inside the vehicle. The victim had no idea who was behind the crime.
Police told him the report would be closed unless they get more information.
Gun Found
Adult Parole called PPD at 3:19 pm to report they had a parolee in cuffs. They wanted an officer to check a gun they found while conducting a search.
Police impounded the weapon.
False Alarms
- At 5:12 pm, police responded to Monroe’s Frame & Collision on 10th Street for an alarm. All was secure when they arrived. Police were called back by another alarm at 7:28 pm. Again, everything seemed secure.
- About 15 minutes later, PPD received another report of an alarm at a house on Albert Street. The side door to the home was unlocked. Police checked the house and locked the door.
- Just after 6 pm, officers answered an Alarm at the Carousel Center on Gallia. Turned out employees set it off accidentally.
Don’t Fight In Front of Company
- A pair that couldn’t stop arguing in front of company caused a bit of a commotion at 7 pm. Officers received a report that they were fighting at a Bloom Street residence.
- When PPD arrived, the two said they were fine but had argued in front of the man’s grandmother earlier.
- The pair began to argue in front of the police. Officers deescalated the situation and advised them to behave.
Under the Influence
Police responded to an overdose on 14th Street at 7:18 pm. The man refused transport.
Hey, That’s My Identity!
A woman called police at 7:30 pm to report someone had opened two accounts in her name. One of them at Aaron’s. She gave the name of a suspect to officers. They took a report.
B & E
Just after 9 pm, a caller reported a burglary in progress on 6th Street. The witness claimed two people broke into a garage.
Officers stopped a woman in the 500 block of Brown. She allowed them to search her backpack. Police didn’t find anything.
What’s That Smell?
- A complaint about the smell of marijuana brought police to Kent street at 10:30 pm. The caller also reported partying. Police found no evidence of either.
- The woman at the residence said she believed her ex-boyfriend made the call to cause her problems. Police advised her on the procedure to obtain a TPO.
Rats, Spiders, and Cursing
- At 23:49, a caller alerted police to a man throwing things at cars on 11th Street. The man also attempted to bust out the window of Mattress Warehouse. The caller said the man was cursing and he was concerned for his welfare.
- Police caught up with the man in front of Advanced Auto. The suspect had multiple open sores. He said either rats or spiders caused the bites.
- The Fire Department transported him to SOMC.
