Portsmouth Police Officers did plenty of good deeds on Sunday. They rolled to the aid of children, the elderly, and folks that were just a little too out of it to make it home safely. Just Between Friends
Just before 1:30 am, the Greenup County Sheriff’s Office reported they received a call to Charles Street for what sounded like domestic violence.
Turned out to be a fight between two male friends. A taxi was called for one of the friends to take him to his mother’s in Chillicothe. No charges were filed.
Hey, That’s My Stuff
- At 3:30, police answered a call to Timmonds Avenue. A woman reported her neighbor caught someone breaking into her car. The neighbor observed the suspect heading north in the alley behind Sonora.
- A woman called police at 9 am for report a missing jacket from her Broadway Street home. She hired a guy to work on her floors and left the home for a bit while he was working. Later, a neighbor advised her the man was a known thief. She checked her residence for missing items and couldn’t find a jacket. She didn’t see him take anything and there were no witnesses.
- A woman called police just before 3 pm to report her cousin borrowed her truck Saturday and refused to return it. While she was talking with the officer, the cousin brought the truck back.
Fire in the Driveway
AT 10:21, a Milldale Road resident reported people burning carpet and other stuff in a driveway. The resident put out the fire.
Spare A Dime?
- Just before 11 am, a caller reported two men had harassed people for money at the Aldi in Gallia. Police told them to move along.
- Police were called back to Gallia for a report of a panhandler harassing people at 3:20 pm. He left the area.
Losing It At Kroger
Just after Noon, officers responded to a report of a woman “going crazy” inside the Kroger on Gay Street.
Officers persuaded her to calm down.
Good Deeds
- Someone found an ID and credit card on 4th Street and turned them over to officers just after 3 pm. Police returned them to their rightful owner just after 4:30 pm.
- At 10 pm, police got a report of an elderly woman in pajamas walking up Thomas. She seemed confused. Officers took her home to Gallia Street.
Under the Influence
- Officers were called to Highland Avenue for a report of an apparently high person at the Central Baptist Church. Officers transported the person to the Four Keys Motel.
- At 5:30 police a caller summoned officers to 5th Street for a report of a shirtless man lying in a driveway. He seemed to be okay and refused medical treatment.
- Ten minutes later, police answered a call to 17th Street for a report of a man who had overdosed in a parking lot on 17th Street. Police took him home.
- Police answered a call to McDonald’s at 11:30 pm for a report of someone passed out behind the wheel of a red Ford Focus in the drive-thru. It appeared to be an overdose.
Safe at Home
A woman called police at 7 pm to report that her 13-year-old son had run away. Officers found him 40 minutes later and took him home.
Half-Naked at the Autozone
Police answered a call to Gallia Street at 8:41 for a report of an intoxicated man stripping off his clothes at the Autozone.
Police took him home to his Kendall Avenue residence.
