A couple of people learned a valuable lesson about things you shouldn’t say aloud, especially to police on Friday.  For example, don’t tell an officer about your plan to slash your ex’s tires. Keep It Quiet

Runaway Teen

Officers checked an Allard Street residence for a runaway teen just before 1 am. The woman who lived there said she’d never heard of the girl. However, the boy police suspect the teen is with once lived there as a foster child.

She had no idea where either party might be.

Move Along

Officers responded to Tracy Park at 1:38 for three people sitting on benches. The homeless people weren’t causing a problem but officers reminded them of park hours. Police also advised them to clean up their trash and not leave belongings behind in the park.

Beating And Banging

A 17th Street caller reported a group banging on their door at 2:30 am. Police couldn’t find the group but did locate a man at another apartment in distress. An ambulance took him to SOMC.

False Alarm

Taking A Nap

Officers responded to Gallia Street for a report of an overdosed man in a car parked by the side of the road. A caller reported the back window of the vehicle was busted out.

Turned out the man was taking a nap to get away from his girlfriend. All was well.

Voices In The Attic

A 6th Street resident reported strange noises in her attic and worried that people were up there. Just after 9 am, an officer checked it out and found no sign of anyone.

Kids In Danger?

A mom called police just before 11 pm. She wanted officers to do a welfare check on her kids. The children were at their father’s house. The couple are going through a divorce and she claimed the man would not let her have her children.

Additionally, she claimed the father is a drug addict and the children are not safe. Police advised her on how to file for custody. They also checked in with the father and children. Police said everyone appeared to be fine.

Niece Needs Help

A woman called police just after 11:30 am to report a domestic violence incident on Kendall Avenue. She said her niece was assaulted by a live-in boyfriend and came to her house for help.

The suspect in the assault has active warrants. Police couldn’t find him, but they took a domestic violence report.

Banned From The Family Dollar Store

A man called police just after 1 pm to complain about being banned from the 11th Street Family Dollar Store. He claimed it was unfair that he was not allowed inside as he’d never had a problem there.

The management explained that the man was accused of abusing an employee there while they were in a personal relationship. The manager did not want trouble between the two.

Police explained the situation to the man. He said he doesn’t use that particular store but should be able to do so if he chooses. Police suggested he take the matter up with corporate.

Things Not To Say In Front Of The Police

Just after 2 pm, a man asked for an officer to stand by while he collected his belongings from his ex. An office assisted but the man claimed he still had some items she hadn’t turned over.

The officer advised the man on the procedure for filing a civil suit. He told the officer he ‘should slice the woman’s tires.”

The officer suggested that was a very bad idea.

Cussing and On Drugs

A Harrison Street grandmother was very upset because her granddaughter was “cussing and on drugs.” Police talked to everyone involved. The granddaughter lives at the address and can’t be forced to leave without eviction proceedings.

Just Kidding, Folks

A joke prompted a welfare check just after 8 pm. SOMC asked officers to check on a guy who left the hospital after making suicidal threats.

The man said he was nervous during a blood draw and make a joke. He said he does not want to harm himself.
