False Alarms
- There was a string of false alarms in the early morning hours:
- At 1:03 am, alarms went off for both a building and an elevator at the Hill View Retirement Center. The alarm company called to cancel.
- Another false alarm at 6:35 am. This one at the Day One Admission Center.
- A burglar alarm went off at 7:14 am on Camelot Drive. The alarm Company canceled two minutes later.
- There was also a fire alarm just after 8 am. On 4th Street. Turned out they were just testing the system.
- Just after 8 am, there was not another false residential alarm on Offnere Street.
- At 8:30, the police responded to an alarm at a business on Harrisonville Avenue. The keyholder showed up while the officer was checking the building. He said the alarm company never contacted him. Everything appeared to be secure.
- Fifteen minutes later, a false fire alarm went off at the SOMC Waller Building.
- An hour after that a photo beam alarm went off at the Oasis Convenient Mart on 17th Street. Again, it was a false alarm.
- Another false alarm, just after noon on Orizaba Lane.
- At 2:31 pm, officers checked out an alarm at Patsy’s Inn on Clay Street. Everything was secure.
- Another alarm sounded just before 6 pm. This time at Portsmouth High. Police said the football team accidentally set it off.
- The very same alarm went off again at 8:30 pm. The football coach reset it.
- Just before 9 pm, a motion alarm went off a Chillicothe Street bank. The building was secure. The alarm finally stopped.
House Check
- An officer performed a house check on a condemned Linden Avenue home just after 10 am. The door was open and the officer was unable to secure.
- The officer also located two abandoned campers on Linden and called a tow truck.
Under the Influence
- Police responded to a report of an unresponsive woman in a Harding Avenue bathroom at 12:31 pm. Residents in the home gave her Narcan. She left before police arrived.
- A caller reported a man lying on the sidewalk on 6th Street. Police took him into custody and issued a summons.
- At 2:44 pm, a caller reported a man in field on Adams Street who appeared to be high. The man refused medical attention.
Kids In Danger?
A woman told police she received a message from a Kendall Avenue woman asking for help. She said the friend asked her to come to get her and her children because her boyfriend was becoming abusive.
When police arrived the woman said it was just a verbal argument. There was no report.
Kids In Danger – Part 2
Just After 3 pm, a woman told police her friend’s husband grabbed their daughter up and she captured it on video. She also said the man took his wife’s keys and left the scene.
Police said it was a verbal custody argument and not physical. Though it was reported that the man had used meth. Officers said to contact them if he returns.
Family Feud
A woman called police to her Grandview Avenue Home just before 7 pm. She said her 16-year-old son hit his 13-year-old sister in the face. Police ended up arresting multiple people. I’ve put in a request for more details. I’ll let you know what happened when I get it.
Come Get Your Cow
A man reported a cow in his Bonser Avenue yard just before 9 pm. An officer contacted the owner, who lived on Elliot Hill Road. He was advised to come get his cow.
Dog Fight
Police were called to 2nd Street at 9:24 pm for a report of six people arguing. Officers said they were all fighting over a loose dog.
They advised the owner and the neighbor to behave.
Under the Influence
- Police received a report of a man shooting up on the corner of Vinton Avenue and Young Street at 9:40 pm. He was advised to move along and a friend came to get him.
- An 18th Street couple got into an argument about the boyfriend’s drinking just after 10 pm. He went to the neighbors, she went home to her mom’s.
- A customer at the Gallia Street BP reported a woman shooting up in the parking lot at 10:44 pm. The woman and her male friend told police they were not using any substances and would go to a hotel.
Cry For Help
A third-party reported receiving an alarming text at 11:37 pm. They said a woman messaged them her boyfriend was acting crazy and threatening suicide.
When police arrived at their residence, no one answered the door.
