A probation check on Walnut Street quickly escalated into a drug-related arrest after officers were called in to assist.
Just after 10 a.m., Adult Probation officers were at a residence serving an active warrant when they reported discovering drugs inside the home and requested assistance from Portsmouth Police.
Officers responded and detained a man on the outstanding warrant.
A second person—a female probationer inside the home—was also taken into custody.
Before making the arrest, officers allowed time for someone to arrive and take care of a child who was inside the residence.
Both individuals were taken into custody without incident.
