Contractors – don’t miss out on this green opportunity

Ohio has an innovative loan program that has both contractors and property owners seeing green. It’s called PACE (Property Assessed Clean Energy) and it helps homeowners and businesses upgrade their properties to maximum energy efficiency that’s also a big boost to contractors who work on HVAC, roofing, windows, insulation, and other improvements that make homes more energy efficient.

You may remember that a few weeks ago, Portsmouth City Council discussed establishing a PACE district in our area. Here’s how it works: property owners can take advantage of low-interest loans that you repay over a period of 5 to 30 years through an assessment on your property tax bill. The money can be used for many types of improvements to improve the efficiency of your property and to cover 100% of the cost. For example, businesses might put in new windows, solar panels, or energy-efficient lighting. Homeowners could upgrade to a new furnace, install windows, or add installation.

Ohio has a commercial PACE program in 20-plus counties and is now gradually rolling out a residential program. There is one catch, for a contractor to participate, they must be registered with the state.

If you’re a contractor who’d like to be eligible to participate in the program, Click here and we’ll put you in touch with some people who can help you with the process of registering. You don’t want to miss out on the opportunity.
