Protestors affiliated with Black Lives Matter are demanding that Circleville fire Police Chief Gary Baer and Officer Ryan Speakman after a controversial video of a K9 being released on a suspect by Circleville Police despite an Ohio State Trooper telling them to hold the dog went viral.

Additionally, the protestors say they want K9 Serg to be sent to a rescue, the Circleville police budget slashed by 50%, mandatory race sensitivity training, and all charges dropped against suspect Jardarrius Rose.

The group plans a protest in Circleville this Saturday at noon and says they expect close to 1000 people to attend.

OSP pulled over truck driver Jaddarius Rose on July 4th after a lengthy police chase, and Rose put his hands up in surrender. An Ohio State Trooper repeatedly told Officer Speakman not to release the dog, however, he let go of the animal, and it bit Rose.

Governor Mike DeWine called for additional police training in the wake of the incident. “You have a Circleville police officer making clearly a call that was not within normal protocol”, DeWine said.

Circleville Police have already fired Speakman.
