Public Defender Appointed for Dad Charged in Son’s Death 

The dad charged with involuntary manslaughter, endangering children, and driving under the influence in connection with the ATV crash that claimed his 7-year-old son’s life appeared in Portsmouth Municipal Court.  

Judge Russell Kegley declared 42-year-old Jeremy Bryant indigent and appointed Shawn Stratton as his public defender. Judge Kegley also waived the $25 application fee to obtain a public defender.  

Bryant is due back in court on Thursday at 9:30 am for a preliminary hearing. The court set his bond at $130,000, and he remains in the Scioto County Jail.
