Puppy Pee Causes Panic at Apartment Building
Officers investigated a strange liquid and mysterious smell coming from an apartment building and the COVID crisis caused an ambulance shortage. We hit the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Dog Pee Causes Panic
Officers were called to Hudson House to do a welfare check due to odor and water coming from an apartment.
Police said the liquid was dog urine and the odor was caused by the puppy pee.
Son With Knife Scares Mom
A 3rd Street woman called the police after she got into argument with the juvenile over a girl he was dating. She said the boy left the house with a knife and returned, but left the knife on a vehicle. M
Mom said she was scared to sleep because of past arguments. She agreed to allow him to spend the night with a friend.
Dumpster Fight at the First Stop
A caller reported people fighting and being loud near the dumpster at First Stop Market on Harding. An officer caught up with one of the people near Scioto Shoe Mart and took him into custody for a warrant.
One man was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Locked in her Room
A worried mom contacted police because her adult daughter barricaded herself in her room and refused to eat because she feared being poisoned and was also threatening to leave to stay with a friend.
Police advised mom that an adult is free to eat or come and go as she pleases. They were advised to seek counseling.
Lending a Hand
PPD offered assistance to OSP when they had to deploy a TASER during an arrest on 17th Street just after 11 pm.
Threatening Behavior
A woman called police from the Woodbine Apartments to report a man had threatened her. Officers searched the area for the man and took him into custody.
COVID Crisis
Three people with COVID called Portsmouth Ambulance at 4:45 am to request transport to the emergency room. Since PD only had 1 truck available, they contacted EMS to assist.
Under The Influence
EMS responded to a report of an unresponsive man on Mound Street at 7:44 am. He jumped up and ran down the alley.
