Rarden EMS Issues: No Ambulance Available After Crash on St. Rt. 772

It took several tries to get an ambulance to the scene after a crash on St. Rt. 772 near Rarden Creek.

The call came in just before 8 pm requesting officers and an ambulance for a single-vehicle crash. Dispatch tried twice to page Rarden EMS without success.  Union EMS acknowledged the page but received another call in the township shortly after and headed to that instead.

Dispatch contacted Portsmouth Ambulance at 8:04 pm but didn’t have a crew. The operator then tried EMTOH, but they also had no one available. Dispatch then tried Pike County to see if anyone was available to assist. Pike County did have a crew available.

At 8:20 pm, firefighters requested a second ambulance, and Scioto EMS said they would respond to the scene. They transported a patient to Adena in Pike County just before 9 pm.

Publisher’s Note

Several Rarden residents have contacted SCDN regarding the ongoing issues with the EMS. According to each of their complaints, a tax levy was passed to aid their EMS specifically, yet they constantly rely on Union Township and others to answer their calls. The citizens want answers as to where their tax dollars have gone.
