Rehab Patient Raises Ruckus at Homeless Shelter

Rehab Patient Raises Ruckus at Homeless Shelter

A man who’d already been kicked out of a local rehab got the boot from the 8th Street Homeless shelter, and he wasn’t happy about it.

At 11:30 am, workers at the shelter contacted officers to report a man was refusing to leave the facility and had made threats.

When officers spoke to him, he said he was from Lancaster but had come to Portsmouth for treatment at a rehab center. However, he was kicked out of treatment and went to the homeless shelter because he didn’t know anyone in town and had no way to get home.

The man said he’d try the 17th Homeless Shelter, but the officer explained it is managed by the same organization. Officers contacted the man’s mother to let him know her son was stranded in Portsmouth.

He did manage to get a ride off the property with someone but still didn’t have a way out of town.
