Repeat Offender Busted for Attempted Murder in Armed Robbery Case

A man with a criminal past is once again in serious legal trouble—this time facing charges that could put him behind bars for decades.

Kevin Hamill, 39, was arrested last week in Franklin County and is now behind bars at the Scioto County Jail on an attempted murder charge stemming from a violent robbery in May 2024. Authorities say Hamill attempted to kill someone during an armed holdup, using a semi-automatic handgun.

The Scioto County Grand Jury indicted Hamill on November 14, charging him with attempted murder, felonious assault, and aggravated robbery in connection with the incident. After his recent arrest, Franklin County officials placed a holder on him and notified Scioto County authorities, who brought him back to face justice.

This isn’t Hamill’s first brush with the law. He made headlines back in 2018 after trying to pass a fraudulent check at a Middletown bank. A quick-thinking Good Samaritan chased him down and helped police take him into custody. That incident led to a string of charges, including falsification, theft, identity fraud, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hamill is scheduled to appear in Scioto County Common Pleas Court on May 21.
