Portsmouth police arrested two women on child endangering charges after a traffic stop on 7th Street.
Officers stopped the vehicle around 8:30 p.m. and took two women into custody.
Police also contacted Children Services and called for a tow truck. The vehicle was towed to the impound lot.
Tina Gillespie was booked into the Scioto County Jail on charges of endangering children, possessing criminal tools, and possession of drugs.
Laura Hossman was charged with endangering children and possessing criminal tools.
Hossman was also arrested last month in Farley Square after police received reports of people dealing drugs out of a vehicle. In that case, she was charged with trafficking in drugs, possession of drugs, possessing criminal tools, and having weapons while under disability.
She is due back in court on that case on July 23 for a pretrial hearing.
Court records also show Hossman was charged with child endangering in March 2021. Her previous arrests include theft, drug charges, and a long list of traffic violations.
Gillespie is also due back in court on July 23 for a pretrial hearing.
She was arrested in April on a theft charge and was also cited in April for having an unrestrained child in a vehicle and driving without a license.
Court records show Gillespie has also faced charges involving obstructing official business, resisting arrest, failure to appear, and driving without a license.
The charges are allegations. Both women are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
